Fall Camping in the Catskills

This past weekend, Boyfriend and I had the pleasure of going for a one-night camping and hiking trip. It was a great opportunity to get out of smelly New York, breathe some real air and check out the fall leaves at their peak colorfulness.

New York state is home to millions of acres of beautiful countryside, forests and mountains, much of which is protected in state parks and land trusts. For our trip we went to Overlook Mountain in Catskill Park, which allows visitors to camp off the main trail and features a hiking route that passes by the ruin of a 1920′s hotel. At the top of the mountain, you can climb up an old fire tower and see this:

Not bad at all.
