Crafts for Cats

I don’t know about your cats, but my little ones just LOVE doing crafts. Finger painting, knitting, making little cabins out of popsicle sticks, you name it – they’ve tried it!
And I’ve got a great project that your kitties are sure to enjoy. It’s called the catnip birdie:

This is a fun one that my youngest, Denzel, and I invented over the weekend.
What you need: dried catnip, thin (gauzy) fabric, a rubber band
First you need to dry out some catnip (this summer my garden was completely take over by the stuff, so i’ve got tons, but you can find it online if need be) and crush it up to a flake. Place the catnip in the center of a small (about 5″x5″) square of fabric, and then bundle the fabric around the catnip so it forms a ball. Then use your rubber band to tie it off, and TA-DA! You’ve got your very own catnip birdie for the kitties to play with.

Feel free to use a ribbon instead of the rubber band to fancy it up a bit. And if your cats are like mine (lacking opposable thumbs), then you’ll probably need to help them with the rubber band.
